About Us

Formed in the Spring of 2009 after the first 25 members graduated from the Missouri Master Naturalist™ training program, the Lake of the Ozarks Chapter is one of twelve chapters in the state of Missouri. After 4 classes, the Lake chapter has well over 100 graduates and continues to grow.

We share a common interest in nature and in volunteering to help protect, preserve and restore Missouri's natural heritage. Our members live around the Lake of the Ozarks area and come from Camden, Miller & Morgan counties.

We operate according to the bylaws and operating handbook of the Missouri Master Naturalist Program developed by the Missouri Department of Conservation and University of Missouri Extension.

Organized in the spring of 2009, the Lake of the Ozarks Chapter of the Missouri Master Naturalist program serves the residents of Camden, Miller & Morgan counties. Sponsored jointly by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the University of Missouri Extension (UE), the Missouri Master Naturalist Program is an adult, community-based, natural resource education and volunteer service program.

As graduates of the program, our mission is to engage Missourians in the stewardship of our state's natural resources through science-based education and volunteer community service.

The Chapter's objectives include:

  • Improve public understanding of natural resources ecology and management.
  • Enhance existing natural resources education and outreach activities.
  • Develop a self-sufficient state-wide Missouri Master Naturalist™ volunteer network.
